Dominique Kuniholm, CNM

I love that as a CNM I have the opportunity to holistically care for my clients- physically, emotionally and spiritually.

My name is Dominique Kuniholm and I am a Certified Nurse Midwife. I have been fascinated with childbirth for as long as I can remember; however, it was not until I had my own son at home that my love for homebirth grew. I am passionate about not disrupting the body’s instinctual ability to bring forth new life. I love that as a CNM I have the opportunity to holistically care for my clients- physically, emotionally and spiritually.

After obtaining an undergraduate degree in Sociology in 2012, I went on to attend an accelerated nursing program where I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I worked as a pediatric nurse at Children’s National from 2016 to 2018. During that time, I wanted to attend births where the physiologic process was both respected and uninterrupted, so I became a certified doula and began supporting women both in and out of the hospital. In 2018, I changed specialties and became a labor and delivery nurse- working at both George Washington Hospital and INOVA Loudon Hospital. I graduated with my Masters of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University in 2024.

I’m grateful for the invaluable experience I had during my clinical rotation to work with a homebirth practice in Loudoun County. My greatest joy is my family. I am a wife and mother to two beautiful boys. I was blessed to be able to have both boys naturally, and my most recent birth at home. When I’m not attending births, you can find me dreaming up my next adventure with my family- whether that be a trip overseas, a Saturday morning walk to the local farmers market, or gardening in my backyard.
